To begin with, Vane type rotary pneumatic actuators create the rotary force directly from the compressed air / gas. That is by having a move able vane in an air chamber, as seen below. As a result, air pressure increases on one side of the movable vane, then it rotates the shaft. Eventually which is connected to the stem of the valve. Generally, vane type rotary actuators are nearly always single acting (with spring return) or double-acting. and pressure on the other side of the movable vane to rotate it back.
